IEC 60335-2-75 focuses on the safety of electric commercial dispensing appliances and vending machines. These appliances are used for preparing or delivering food, drinks, and consumer products. They have a rated voltage of up to 250 V for single-phase appliances and up to 480 V for other appliances.
Examples of these appliances are:
— bulk tea or coffee brewing machines and coffee grinders,
— coffee makers with or without integrated coffee grinders and coffee makers with cooling systems,
— hot and cold beverage vending machines, hot water dispensers and commercial liquid heaters,
— ice cream and whipped cream dispensers, ice dispensers,
— newspaper, audio or video tape or disc vending machines,
— packaged food and drink vending machines and refrigerated merchandisers.
Appliances can serve multiple functions. In some cases, specific standards may apply to certain functions. For example, refrigeration (IEC 60335-2-24) and heating by microwaves (IEC 60335-2-25).
IEC 60335-2-75 also addresses the hygiene aspects of appliances. It aims to address the common hazards that users and maintenance personnel may encounter. However, it does not specifically consider young children playing with the appliance.
