This standard applies to industrially manufactured materials used for the construction of the upper and lower layers of the bases of roads and for the stabilisation and reinforcement of soil. The use of such stabilising materials is based on the many years of experience gained in using them, guided by the natural conditions that prevail in Estonia, the local materials used and the structural design solutions developed for roads, ensuring at the same time an economically expedient approach. The manufacturing of these materials enables the by-products of the local oil shale and cement industries to be reused in future, guaranteeing therein their suitability for the given end use as part of a stabilising binder. The standard classifies materials on the basis of their two-, seven- and 28-day compressive strength and specifies their mechanical, physical and chemical properties. It also establishes requirements for manufacturing, marking, delivery and conformity assessment. The scope of the standard does not extend to products that result from the mixing together of ingredients on a building site.
