Purpose

Necessary cookies are essential for browsing the website and using its features, such as accessing secure areas of the site. Cookies allow the online store to store products in the shopping cart when shopping online. These cookies are generally first-party session cookies.

Functionality cookies allow the website to remember choices you have made in the past, such as which language you prefer or what your username is, so that you can log in automatically.

Analytical cookies collect information about how you use the website, such as which pages you visited and which links you clicked on. This information cannot be used to identify you and has been anonymized. Their sole purpose is to improve the functionality of the website. This includes cookies from third-party analytics services.

Marketing cookies help track online activity to help advertisers deliver more relevant ads or limit the number of times you see an ad. These cookies may share this information with other organizations or advertisers. These are persistent cookies and are almost always of third-party origin.

Cookie settings can be changed at any time by clicking on the "Consent" or “Data” link, turning on or off cookie options and clicking on the "Allow selection" link.

You can also control the use of functional, analytical and marketing cookies by adjusting your browser settings.

This International Standard gives simplified calculation methods for: a) The internal surface temperature of a building component or building element below which mould growth is likely, given the internal temperature and relative humidity. The method can also be used to assess the risk of other internal surface condensation problems. b) The assessment of the risk of interstitial condensation due to water vapour diffusion. The method used does not take account of a number of important physical phenomena including: - the variation of material properties with moisture content; - capillary suction and liquid moisture transfer within materials; - air movement from within the building into the component through gaps or within air spaces; - the hygroscopic moisture capacity of materials. Consequently, the method is applicable only where the effects of these phenomena can be considered to be negligible. c) The time taken for water, from any source, in a layer between two high vapour resistance layers to dry out and the risk of interstitial condensation occurring elsewhere in the component during the drying process.
