Directive 2001/95/EC (General product safety) notice:
This publication concerns only clauses 3.3.19 “Sound exposure” and 10.6 “Safeguard against acoustic energy sources” of EN IEC 62368-1:2020/A11:2020.
IEC 62368-1 applies to audio, video, information, and communication technology equipment, as well as business and office machines with a rated voltage of up to 600V. It covers the safety of these types of equipment and does not address their performance or functional characteristics.
IEC 62368-1 helps to identify different types of energy sources and outlines safety measures to protect against these sources. These measures, known as safeguards, are designed to reduce the risk of pain and injury or property damage from fire. IEC 62368-1 provides guidance on how to apply and follow these safeguards.
The new edition has been updated with several technical changes compared to the previous edition. These changes include new requirements for outdoor equipment, optical radiation, insulating liquids, work cells, wireless power transmitters, and fully insulated winding wire. This standard describes safety measures to protect three types of people: the ordinary person, the instructed person, and the skilled person. Unless otherwise stated, the requirements for an ordinary person apply. The text of the international standard has been approved in Europe as EN IEC 62368-1:2020 without any changes.
