IEC 61000-6-1 EMC immunity requirements apply to electrical and electronic equipment in residential, commercial, public and light-industrial locations. Covered are immunity requirements in the frequency range 0 Hz to 400 GHz. No tests need to be performed at frequencies where no requirements are specified. IEC 61000-6-1 is applicable if no relevant dedicated product or product family EMC immunity standard exists.
This standard applies to electrical and electronic equipment intended to be operated in
• residential locations, both indoor and outdoor,
• commercial, public and light industrial locations, both indoor and outdoor.
IEC 61000-6-1 defines the immunity test requirements for equipment specified in the scope concerning continuous and transient, conducted and radiated disturbances, including electrostatic discharges.
The immunity requirements have been selected to ensure an adequate level of immunity for equipment operating within residential, commercial, public and light-industrial locations. The levels do not cover extreme cases, which may occur at any location, but with an extremely low probability of occurrence. Not all disturbance phenomena have been included for testing purposes in IEC 61000-6-1, but only those considered relevant for the equipment. These test requirements represent essential electromagnetic compatibility immunity requirements. They are specified for each port considered.
The international standard has been approved in Europe as EN IEC 61000-6-1:2019 without any changes and it supersedes EN IEC 61000-6-1:2019.
