EN 1915-1 applies to GSE (aircraft ground support equipment) when used in civil air transport as intended by the manufacturer and contains safety requirements relating to the equipment in general. EN 1915-1 specifies the technical requirements to minimise hazards which can arise during the commissioning, operation, and maintenance of GSE. It also considers some requirements recognised as essential by authorities, aircraft, and ground support equipment (GSE) manufacturers as well as airlines and handling agencies.

EN 1915-1 is of relevance for stakeholder groups representing the market players regarding machinery safety:

— machine manufacturers (small, medium and large enterprises),

— health and safety bodies (regulators, accident prevention organizations, market surveillance etc.).
