This European Standard specifies the general procedure for determining:  a)  the inward leakage of facepieces or b)  inward leakage of respiratory protective devices (RPD), which is the toltal inward leakage excluding any filter penetration or c)  total inward leakage of respiratory protective devices. Device preparation, selection of test subjects, test procedure and the method of calculation of leakage are included. Two test methods are described, one using an aerosol (sodium chloride aerosol) and one using a gas (sulfur hexafluoride).
