Shared vision for a better world – spotlight on SDG 9
Aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)ðŸ¡, which call for urgent global action to ensure peace, prosperity, and sustainability, each goal requires collective effort. International standards provide practical solutions that help drive this progress.
SDG 9 emphasizes building resilient infrastructure, promoting sustainable industrialisation, and fostering innovation. Since 2022, the manufacturing sector has experienced stagnation due to factors such as geopolitical instability, inflation, logistical disruptions, rising energy costs, and a global economic slowdown.
To advance progress toward SDG 9, efforts must focus on accelerating the green transition, strategically prioritising key industries, and tackling inequalities in the digital and innovation sectors. International standards are critical to achieving these aims, ensuring global interoperability, security, and sustainability. They support collaboration and enable innovation, particularly through emerging technologies like AI.
By adopting and applying these standards, we create a world where resilient infrastructure, sustainable growth, and technological innovation drive economic transformation for current and future generations.
Every year on 14 October, World Standards DayðŸ¡Â offers the opportunity to increase understanding of the importance of standardisation.
