In support of theĀ ISO London Declaration on Climate Changeš”, ISO has approved adding two statements of text to several existing and upcoming management systems standards.
The changes in clauses 4.1 and 4.2 ensure that organisations consider climate change alongside other key factors in their management systems.Ā
These include quality management systems (ISO 9001:2015), occupational health and safety management systems (ISO 45001:2018) and ISO/IEC 27001:2022, which deals with information security management systems. The amendments will be initially published toĀ 31 standardsĀ | 144 KB | PDF.

The goal of the changes
While the core purpose of the clauses remains unchanged, emphasising the need to address all internal and external factors affecting management system effectiveness, the new additions explicitly recognise climate change as a significant external factor.Ā
CEN will initiate their established procedures for the standards to be adopted in Europe.
For organisations holding accredited certifications to management system standards and accredited certification bodies,Ā IAF will provide further guidanceš”.
